RABBI'S MESSAGE JUNE/JULY 2010:
Worldwide Connections
RabbiDo you ever play Jewish geography? No doubt, at some time you played this. Jews are connected by our narrative and by our Judaism to Jews all over the world. We are proud to feel part of this holy people. This is an element of our identity as Jews. So we enjoy the game of Jewish geography. These connections of peoplehood are shaped into something material through our connection to Eretz Yisrael, the land of Israel. Even if you do not understand or even follow the news about the State of Israel, as a member of the people, you are connected to the land. This land serves to remind us of our relationship in covenant with God. Please do not take my word for it, make a pilgrimage to Israel and experience this feeling for yourself. It is extraordinary.
